Ajalugu/History

Since the early years of this garden, we have wanted to achieve the most maintenance-free garden possible, so we started with all kinds of conifers, hostas and the most common daylilies. Over time, it turned out that the common daylily becomes ugly after flowering and loses a large part of its leaves, and also tends to spread in all sorts of wrong directions. Also, many years ago, our nurseries did not have such a large selection as now. As a result of all this, experiments with different plants began.

Meil on varasemale kartulimaale isehakanud muru. Seetõttu kasutasime enamkäidavates kohtades sillutiseks ja käiguteedeks maakive. Ülemisel pildil oleva maakivisillutise lasime murusse kasvada, aga astekive püüame lahtisena hoida, kuigi need on aastate jooksul tugevasti vajunud.

We have self-grown grass for the former potato field. That’s why we used ground stones for paving and walkways in the most frequented areas. We have let the ground stone paving in the top picture grow into the grass, but we try to keep the stepping stones open, even though they have sunk heavily over the years.

Kaks eelmist pilti nagu polekski tehtud ühest ja samast kohast, taimed on juba ammu kivi-ilu ära varjanud.

The two previous pictures are as if they were not taken from the same place, the plants have long since hidden the beauty of the stone.

Esimesed aastad jälgisime huviga, millised taimed oleme koos aiaga päranduseks saanud.

First few years we watched with interest which plants we inherited with the garden.

See viimane hilissügisene pilt on heaks võrdluseks selle postituse esimesele pildile, kuidas aed on ajas muutunud.

This last late fall picture is a good comparison to the first picture in this post to see how the garden has changed over time.
