Olen kogu aeg arvanud, et aeda on lihtsam värvi tuua erinevate okkaliste ja lehtpõõsastega. Aga inimene tahab vaheldust ja nii lõigi mul 2020. aasta hilissügisel mõte pähe, et mingi püsikupeenar võiks ju ikka olla, kust kasvõi vahel lilligi tuppa vaasi viia. Mitte et meil varem püsikuid poleks olnud, oli ikka. Aga nende kusagile aia äärde peenrasse koondamine oli seni lõppenud järjekordselt naatidele allajäämisega. Seekord otsustasin juurumbrohu vältimiseks korraliku peenraäärise paigaldada. Mõeldud-tehtud. Tegin internetis ära eeltöö, et peenar ikka kogu suvi õitseks, kaevasin ümber hunniku maad, tellisin taimed, suure osa neist SIIT ja istutasin maha. Algus oli tehtud. Või noh, algus oli seal juba ammu ees olemas vanade aiaga kaasa saadud pojengide näol, kes olid sinna ehituse eest pagendatud. Nüüd oli vaid peenart vaja edasi laiendada. I have always thought that it is easier to bring color to the garden with a variety of thorny and deciduous shrubs. But people want a change, and so in the late fall of 2020, the thought occurred to me that there could still be some kind of permanent flower bed, from where I could even bring a flower into the room into vase. Not that we didn’t have perennials before, we still did. But gathering them in a bed somewhere by the fence had ended up being once again inferior to the ground elders. This time I decided to install a proper bed border to avoid root weeds. Thought-done. I did the preliminary work online so that the bed would still bloom all summer, dug up a pile of ground, ordered plants, most of them from HERE and planted them. The beginning was made. Or, well, the beginning was already there long ago in the form of peonies brought with the old garden, which were banished there due to construction. Now it was only necessary to expand the bed further. This is what the planned bed site looked like before the excavation works:

Järgneval suvel sain siis nii mõnegi üllatuse osaliseks. Selgus, et taimede oletatavad kõrgused võivad sõltuda millest iganes: mullastikust, niiskusest, taime vanusest, valgustingimustest jne. And then those characters whose informative height is given with flowers, but after flowering there is a hole in the bed, because a plant without flowers is just another nice sod, but it does not stand out from the others. I am also disappointed in some of the colors. For example, painted daisy Robinson’s Pink. Well, it is very difficult to call this pinkish-white flower pink. Kõige ilusam aeg ongi püsikupeenras juunis-juulis. Edasi tuleb aga aeg, kus osa suvistest õitsejatest peaks kirjade järgi edasi õitsema, aga pole selle kahe suve jooksul seda mitte teinud, hoolimata äraõitsenud õite äralõikamisest. The most beautiful time is in the perennials bed in June-July. However, the time will come when some of the summer bloomers should continue to bloom according to the letters, but they have not done so during these two summers, despite cutting off the bloomed flowers. This is where my desire for a calmer and more permanent beauty starts to emerge. The final touch has yet to be given, but it will settle down over time.
