Veider suvi oli. Aed pidi ise hakkama saama, sest igasugu kummalistel põhjustel polnud isegi aiailu nautimiseks väga aega, rääkimata hooldustöödest. Õnneks tegi mururobot oma tööd ja vihma tuli ka piisavalt. Suvi 2024 möödus nii kiiresti, et isegi pilte tuli terve suve peale kokku samapalju, kui tavaliselt ühes kuus. Juunis rõõmustasid silma lupiinid, pojengid ja hostad, kõik sellised taimed, kes saavad suht ilma hoolitsuseta hakkama.
It was a strange summer. The garden had to take care of itself, because for all sorts of strange reasons there was not much time to even enjoy the beauty of the garden, let alone maintenance work. Fortunately, the lawn robot did its job and there was enough rain. The summer of 2024 passed so quickly that there were even as many pictures collected over the whole summer as usually in one month. In June, lupins, peonies and hostas delighted the eye, all such plants that can manage relatively without care.

Augustis alustasid õitsemist kukeharjad, maranad ja muidugi hortensiad, kes rõõmustasid üle mitme aasta regulaarselt taevast alla sadava kastmisvee üle.
In August, sedums, potentillas and, of course, hydrangeas started blooming, and they were happy about the irrigation water that rained regularly from the sky for several years.
Eelmisel suvel istutatud ploomid kandsid juba vilja. Suvi 2024 oli ploomidele väga hea, puud olid murdumiseni vilju täis. Peaaegu olematuks jäi aga murelisaak, sest kevadised öökülmad tegid õitele liiga ja selle, mis alles jäi, panid linnud pooltoorelt nahka.
The plums planted last summer were already bearing fruit. The summer of 2024 was very good for plums, the trees were full of fruit until they burst. However, the griotte harvest was almost non-existent, because the spring night frosts did too much for the flowers, and what was left was eaten half-raw by the birds.

Püsikupeenar oli see ala, mille hooletusse jäämise pärast kõige rohkem muret tundsin. Seal oli veidi talvekadusid ja ka multshi oleks veidi juurde vaja olnud. Ometi sai ka see ala hakkama, kuigi äraõitsenud õite eemaldamisel oleks kõik tublisti kenam olnud.
The permanent bed was the area I was most concerned about neglecting. There were some winter losses and a little more mulch would have been needed. However, this area also managed, although everything would have been much nicer if the flourished flowers had been removed.

Hoolimata ajapuudusest ja iseendaga sõlmitud kokkuleppest mitte osta taimi, kui neile koht valmis pole, ei suutnud me ka sel suvel aiapoodidest kaarega mööda käia. Osa uusi tulijaid pidi ikka päris tükk aega kasvukohale istutamist ootama.
Despite the lack of time and the agreement we made with ourselves not to buy plants if the place is not ready for them, we could not bypass the garden stores this summer either. Some of the new arrivals still had to wait quite a while to be planted in the growing area.
